K-12 Learning Model

Bayshore Prep adheres to an Individualized Learning model of education. We believe education should be tailored to the student, creating a personalized education plan for each child. This involves an active partnership between the student, parent or guardian, and Bayshore Prep’s Highly Qualified Teachers.

The Bayshore Prep community is committed to fostering the development of the unique potential of each student through experiences that promote self-directed learning, self-reliance, responsibility, and shared decision-making. There is a balance between each individual’s need for freedom and a sense of community. The school provides a positive, nurturing, yet challenging environment where each student can experience the joy of learning.

We offer a self-paced, individualized curriculum in a supportive environment. Each student is initially assessed to determine his or her best placement and educational path. The student, the parents, and the HQ Teachers take an active part in determining achievable educational goals. At Bayshore Prep we combine the most efficient models of education: small on-site classes, on-line programs, personal at-home study, and for high school students: college courses, all for a true 21st century education.

  • Bayshore Preparatory offers a rigorous college prep curriculum and is fully WASC accredited.
  • Students are assigned to a supervising teacher who monitors each student’s progress and communicates progress with parents.
  • Personalized Learning means that your student agrees to complete assignments and study independently and this his/her academic success is his/her FIRST priority. As a parent or guardian, you are also agreeing that your student possesses the ability to be self-motivated and disciplined in this area.

What are the benefits of Personalized Learning at Bayshore Preparatory Charter School?

  • Flexibility: Personalized pacing allows students to meet yearly academic requirements while working at an appropriate rate for their knowledge and skill level.
  • Assessment: New students are assessed immediately upon entry to determine the best direction for study. This will provide students/teachers with a clear understanding of areas of academic strength and/or weaknesses.
  • College Planning: Bayshore assists all students with the college application process. Students meet regularly with a credentialed teacher to make sure all requirements are met enabling them the opportunity to continue their education in college.
  • Dual Credit Program with Palomar College and Mira Costa College: Students may begin building their college transcripts while still in high school. With the flexibility of Bayshore’s schedule, students can achieve both college and Bayshore credit by completing Palomar classes tuition-free. Approved courses taken at the college level are given full college credit and can be transferable for appropriate high school credit. A typical two or three credit college course will count as five credits of high school study and a four or five unit college course equates to ten credits of high school study.
Kindergarten – Eighth Grade Program:

Our K-8 program operates on a home schooling model where the parents are actively involved in their child’s education. Parents, students, and teachers work to create Personalized Learning Plans that serve students’ unique interests, goals, and abilities. Bayshore Prep offers a choice in enrichment classes, instructional methods, schedules, and field trips. Students/families meet a least once a month with their supervising teacher to review work and develop assignments/lesson plans. In addition, Eighth Grade students may need to attend on-site classes for science or Algebra. Parents, students, and teachers together build not just a school, but a community: one which diversity of strengths, cultures, and family backgrounds are valued. At Bayshore, we strive to provide a quality learning environment that has purpose and meaning behind it. If any of this sounds like a program that meets your needs, come try us out, give us a call for more details or pre-enroll on this website and we will contact you.
